Threshing Day Book: Thirteen Stories, One Day

Threshing Day is Rebecca Yarros’s Empyrean collection built around one legendary day at Basgiath: Threshing, when cadets seek a dragon bond or die. Publisher pages describe thirteen unforgettable stories, not a secret “book four” replacement for Onyx Storm.

This is an unofficial fan page on threshingquiz.online. It is not Yarros Ink, not dragonkind.com, and not threshingday.com. The quiz on this site does not reprint the collection. If you want the book, buy it from a retailer. If you want a seven-question fan score, stay on the Threshing Quiz.

What the Threshing Day book is

Hachette UK lists Threshing Day for sale on 29 September 2026 (hardcover, Piatkus / Little, Brown in that listing). The jacket logic is simple: thirteen cadets, one brutal trial, dragons deciding fate. The same publisher note says the Empyrean series is best read in order — Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, Onyx Storm — and that although Threshing Day can be enjoyed as an introduction, it is best read after Onyx Storm because of contained spoilers.

Author site copy on rebeccayarros.com/threshing-day repeats the promise: thirteen stories, one legendary day, the bond that changes everything. Retailers add that the day has one rule: don’t die. This page will not summarize each story. Spoilers are the product.

Related official digital work launched with the collection: Dragonkind, the interactive Threshing at dragonkind.com, and material on threshingday.com including a Signet Quiz. Those are not this fan quiz. A Threshing Day Quiz on this domain is still our color-and-tail score, not a chapter recap.

Thirteen POVs the publisher named

Hachette’s listing names thirteen cadets and a short tag for each. A separate retailer blurb names some of those cadets next to dragons: Xaden Riorson and Sgaeyl; Brennan Sorrengail and Marbh; Sloane Mairi and Thoirt; Sawyer Henrick and Sliseag; Imogen Cardulo and Glane; Ridoc Gamlyn and Aotrom. This table keeps the publisher’s thirteen names. Dragon columns only repeat pairings those public pages already printed. We do not invent the rest.

Pairings that already appear in the published novels are still novel facts, not a reason for this quiz to print those dragons as your result. Our cards use invented Celtic-style names on purpose.

Recommended reading order

Follow the publisher: Fourth Wing, then Iron Flame, then Onyx Storm, then Threshing Day if you want to avoid the spoiler warning they printed. They also say the collection can work as an introduction. That is their sentence, not a dare to skip three novels.

Violet Sorrengail is not on the thirteen-cadet jacket list above. The collection is framed as other riders’ Threshing Day, not as a substitute for her trilogy. Read the trilogy if you care about her bond. Read Threshing Day if you care about that specific day across many viewpoints.

After you read, if you still want a two-minute fan score, the Threshing Day Quiz and homepage use the same seven original prompts. They are not scenes from the collection.
